“Giving wings to fledgling charities”
NEXT EVENT 30th March 2019
You can find out more about The Rotary Club of Babbacombe & St Marychurch
The Rotary Club of Babbacombe and St Marychurch are responsible for organising The Pedal Car Grand Prix, Babbacombe Fayre, the Christmas Grotto (Fleet Walk) and The Angels Ball.
Our goals are to build greater communities, raise funds for charities and worth while causes both locally and internationally.
Rotary International tends to classify anyone under 30 years old as youth. To this end, although we tend to work with school aged children we are more than happy to engage, assist and work with anyone with connections to youth.
We organise; competitions throughout the year, choirs for our other events, Dictionary4life, RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) and the Angels Ball.
We are working to raise the profile of Rotary within the younger community, breaking down stereo types and show that when working together we can achieve great things. Growing confidence and providing support where we can for younger people.
We meet every Wednesday at
Hamiltons, Babbacombe Downs
18.00 for 18.15 start.
A vibrant club with a modern approach
You can find out more about The Lions Barber Collective at
The Lions Barber Collective is an international collection of top barbers which have come together to help raise awareness for the prevention of suicide.
It all stemmed from a comment on a Facebook group and within 6 weeks we had our first appearance at The Great British Barber Bash in Liverpool where members of the pride donated their time to demonstrate their skills and raise awareness about the mission of BarberTalk as well as the charities we work alongside Papyrus and Pieta House in the UK and Ireland.
Suicide is THE biggest killer in young people, over 1,600 people take their lives every year, in the UK somebody takes their life every 120 minutes.Three quarters of these shocking statistics are men.
This effects so many, either directly or indirectly.
As barbers we are in a unique position to help our clients, through the trust and bond we build with them. An incredibly strong relationship where clients become friends and can share aspect of their lives with us, then walk out the shop and leave it behind knowing it goes no further because of client confidentiality and the fact we are often not in their social circle.
Supporting Veterans, Emergency Service Personnel and their families to resettle after suffering trauma by providing a therapeutic programme of rural and craft skills.
We are a group of highly qualified, like-minded, experienced professionals whose lives have been affected by a loved one’s trauma in one way or another.
Through our desire to support and help we have undertaken trials of social farming, i.e. using therapeutic activities in harmony with ‘mother nature’, the land and animals, all associated with the countryside, as an aid to recovery. We know the impact that trauma can have on the sufferer and the whole family and friends.
We have numerous skills, and our experiences have led us to be totally passionate about the work we do. We are proud of the successes we have had helping people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other mental health conditions. We understand the real difficulties experienced by the military and emergency service personnel and their families. We will combine our many skills to deliver a highly professional and integrated approach to help trauma related conditions.
