About Angels' Ball
What is Angels' Ball?
We believe a ball is more than just a regular evening of social dance, a ball, as the fairytales tell us, is where Cinderella met her prince. Angels' ball takes place in London's most breathtaking Tango venue, in ornate 19th century surroundings, evocative of court dances of times past, and one fitting for a dance as elegant and intricate as Tango.
As you walk through the heavy mahogany double doors, you are transported into the opulence of another era, manifest in the extravagant decor, greeted by a room of exquisitely-dressed friends and strangers, you will be escorted to your own table for the evening. Each ball has is specially themed, with a related dress code, no two evenings will ever be the same.
The music is subtly varied, with different DJs each evening, playing an eclectic range of Tangos from traditional to nuevo and electronico.
The delight of the evening comes towards midnight, as the guest performers of the evening delight the audience with a stunning performance guaranteed to leave you inspired and wanting more.
The bar proves drinks and tasty food for the evening, to keep your energy and your spirits high until 2 in the morning.
Should any Cinderella (or prince) lose a shoe, we will have a full selection of sexy shoes for sale. A wide selection is available, to suit traditional and the daring.
Why Angels' Ball?
As you dance around the great hall, you will not fail to notice ten Angels watching benignly over you from all around the hall. It is only fitting to name the ball after its venue's most prominent feature, its protectors - the Clerkenwell Angels. The angels define the venue and reflect its past and that of the Clerkenwell area at large , steeped in centuries of monastic, esoteric and radicalist traditions (for more of Clerkenwell's history, see this article on Wikipedia). Who organises Angels' Ball?
The Angels' Ball is organised by Rojo y Negro, a Tango Argentino school based in the Clerkenwell area.
Bianca, who runs Rojo y Negro, has spent many years in the Clerkenwell area with her school, and has dedicated much of that time to 'discovering' the perfect Tango venue. It was her dream to find a venue evocative of court dances of old, where every Cinderella could meet her 'prince'.
Now, we can finally present you with the Angels' Ball, in spectacular surroundings befitting our beloved Tango, that guarantees to sweep you off your feet.
